Starting a business is a journey filled with hopes, fears, and dreams
As Muslims, we seek Allah’s guidance and blessings at every step.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the Sahabah (may Allah be pleased with them) would turn to Allah before beginning important matters — business included.
Here are powerful duas, directly from the Qur'an and Hadith, to help you start your business with tawakkul (trust in Allah) and barakah (blessing).
1. Dua for Guidance and Success (Istikhara Concept)
Allahumma inni astakheeruka bi'ilmika, wa astaqdiruka biqudratika, wa asaluka min fadlika al-'azeem.
"O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and seek ability through Your power, and ask You from Your immense bounty."
Before the Prophet ﷺ made big decisions — including trade and contracts — he taught the Companions to pray Istikhara.
Business is a major life decision; invoking Allah's guidance ensures you are on the path of halal and blessing.
2. Dua for Blessing in Livelihood
Allahumma barik li fi rizqi.
"O Allah, bless me in my provision."
The Prophet ﷺ would regularly ask for blessings (barakah) in his sustenance.
In business, profit without blessing can harm you — but blessed wealth, even if little, brings peace and growth.
3. Dua from the Story of Prophet Shu’ayb (as) — Seeking Honest Earnings
In ureedu illa al-islaaha ma istata'tu. Wa ma tawfeeqi illa billaah.
"I only desire reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allah."
Prophet Shu’ayb (as) was sent to a people known for cheating in trade. He emphasized honesty and relied on Allah for success. This dua is perfect for Muslim entrepreneurs starting businesses on halal principles.
4. Dua for Removing Hardships and Easing Affairs
Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahla wa anta taj'alul hazna idha shi'ta sahla.
"O Allah, there is no ease except what You make easy, and You can make difficulty easy if You wish."
The Prophet ﷺ would say this when undertaking important or difficult tasks. Starting a business has many challenges — trusting Allah to ease them is a Sunnah mindset.
5. Dua of Prophet Musa (as) — For Courage and Clarity
Rabbi ishrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul 'uqdatan min lisani, yafqahu qawli.
"My Lord, expand my chest (with confidence), ease my affair, and untie the knot from my tongue so they may understand my speech."
When Musa (as) was sent to speak before Pharaoh, he asked Allah for calmness, clarity, and ease.
As a business owner, especially in presentations, meetings, and negotiations — this dua is gold.
Important Reminder:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"When you ask, ask Allah. When you seek help, seek help from Allah." (Reported by Tirmidhi, Hadith 2516)
Starting your business with dua strengthens your reliance on Allah.
It reminds you that success, wealth, and barakah are all from Him alone.
Business is an act of rizq (provision). And rizq is already written for every soul.
What matters most is how you earn — with honesty, humility, and trust in Allah.
Use these duas.
Make them your daily habit.
Tie your camel — that is, make all efforts — but then leave the result to Ar-Razzaq, the Ultimate Provider.
May Allah bless your business and make it a means of halal wealth and sadaqah jariyah (ongoing charity) for you and your family.
