The Moon Wasn’t Sighted, But My Heart Is Ready for Ramadan 1446 H - Ramadan 2025

Ramadan 2025 will commence on Sunday, 2 March 2025 - Philippines

As the crescent moon remains unseen, the Islamic community prepares to welcome Ramadan 1446 AH on March 2, 2025. This sacred month offers a unique opportunity for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and deepened connection with Allah.

Significance of Ramadan

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, commemorates the initial revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (). It's a period marked by fasting, prayer, reflection, and community.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the blessings of this month:

"There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month, which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined you to fast. In it, the gates of heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. In it, Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived."

Preparing for the First Day

  • Spiritual Intentions (Niyyah)
Begin with a sincere intention to observe the fast for the sake of Allah. This conscious commitment sets the tone for the month ahead.
اللهم إني صائم لك وحدك. أطلب رحمتك، ومغفرتك، وهدايتك. فأعنّي على جعل هذا رمضان أفضل رمضان لي.
Allahumma inni sa’imun laka wahdak. Atlubu rahmatak, wa maghfiratak, wa hidayatak. Fa-a‘inni ‘ala ja‘li hadha Ramadan afdal Ramadan li.

"O Allah, let this Ramadan be a means of my forgiveness. Cleanse my heart, guide my steps, and accept all my efforts for Your sake."

  • Pre-Dawn Meal (Suhoor)
Partake in a nutritious meal before dawn. Foods rich in complex carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats provide sustained energy throughout the day. Hydration is also crucial.
  • Supplications (Duas)
Engage in heartfelt prayers, seeking Allah's guidance and mercy. The early hours are especially blessed for making dua.

Observing the Fast

  • Abstinence: From dawn (Fajr) to sunset (Maghrib), refrain from eating, drinking, and marital relations.
  • Mindful Behavior: Fasting extends beyond physical abstinence. Guard against negative behaviors such as gossip, anger, and dishonesty.

  • Charity and Good Deeds: Increase acts of kindness, charity, and community service. Ramadan is a time to cultivate empathy and generosity.

Breaking the Fast (Iftar)

Traditionally, the fast is broken with dates and water, followed by the Maghrib prayer and a balanced meal. Moderation is key to avoid overindulgence.

Recommended Supplications

Incorporating authentic supplications enhances the spiritual experience:

Upon Breaking the Fast:

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Dhahaba aẓ-ẓama'u wabtallatil-'urooqu wa thabata al-ajru in sha' Allah.

"The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills."

 General Dua for Ramadan:

اللهم بارك لي في رمضان واجعله سببًا لمغفرتي ورحمتك
Allahumma barik li fi Ramadan wa-j‘alhu sababan limaghfirati wa rahmatik.

"O Allah, grant me the blessings of Ramadan and make it a means for my forgiveness and mercy."

Engaging in Night Prayers (Tarawih)

After the Isha prayer, Muslims are encouraged to perform Tarawih, special nightly prayers during Ramadan. These prayers offer an opportunity to recite and reflect upon the Quran.

In shaa Allah... Ameen...

The onset of Ramadan is a time for renewal and heightened devotion. Approach this month with a heart full of gratitude, seeking to strengthen your relationship with Allah and embody the virtues of patience, compassion, and self-restraint.

May this Ramadan bring you closer to the Divine and fill your life with peace and blessings.
